Trending Design Strategist Todd Bracher to Keynote Inaugural mDesign Live Event
Trending Design Strategist : Todd Bracher
Todd Bracher will keynote mDesign Live, the two-day materials and design event taking place October 28 — 29 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bracher is a design strategist and industrial designer, guiding some of the world’s most prestigious brands to set strategic differentiation in markets through design that is expert-based, and driven by science, nature, and truth.
While Bracher is widely known in the industry for his furniture and product designs, he is rising in stature as a branding strategy leader, too. He may be thought of as the thinking-person’s designer, given to reflection and the long view. But Bracher is also all business, and the critical role design in advancing markets and industry.
A frequent lecturer and speaker, Bracher has spoken most recently at the Yale School of Management, at Salone de Mobile in Milan (where he presented a Bodies in Motion for Humanscale), at Fortune-Wallpaper Brainstorm Design, and at the World Summit on Innovation & Entrepreneurship, among many other events. His work and creative philosophy are widely covered in design media.
A native New Yorker and founder of Todd Bracher Studio LLC, Bracher is a designer and educator currently based in New York City after a decade working in Copenhagen, Milan, Paris and London. Todd has collaborated with some of the world's most prestigious brands around the world from furniture and object design to interiors and architecture. Pinned as 'America's Next Great Designer' by the NY Daily News, he has been nominated for and received numerous prestigious awards.
Strategic Design Process
Todd Bracher Studio guides some of the world's leading brands to realize strategic differentiation through design. Our strategic design process helps our clients leverage their unique assets to achieve market growth, elevate brand visibility, and evolve product portfolios for a contemporary audience.
Last year, Bracher told design audiences about his favorite role as Strategic Advisor to 3M Company, where he was part of leading their effort to create a new business around architectural lighting.
“I was embedded with their scientists and technologies tasked with leveraging these assets in new product developments that are relevant to the A&D community,” he says. “The project was a success and birthed several award-winning products and became a rapid market leader in advanced lighting.”
Bracher’s experiences range from working independently, heading Tom Dixon's Design studio, acting Professor of Design at l'ESAD in Reims France, to having been appointed Creative Director of the Scandinavian luxury brand Georg Jensen.
Todd Bracher Design emphasizes three areas in his practice, described here:
Design Advisory: We identify market trends and opportunities, and develop strategies where we can leverage design to drive growth for each brand. We collaborate with businesses to focus their product strategy, establishing a solid foundation for growth.
Product Design: We design products with the intent to offer our clients a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Our designs are not simply aesthetically pleasing; we consider business objectives, contemporary culture, and human needs to create products that help businesses evolve and grow.
Editions: We use a portion of our time to push ourselves and test the boundaries of our design philosophy by exploring ideas and discovering materials and simply to have fun.
Commissioned by Wallpaper* Magazine to participate in their annual Handmade exhibition, Todd Bracher Studio was paired with Amorim, a Portuguese cork manufacturer, to produce an art piece exploring this familiar medium in a fun, unfamiliar context.
Bracher’s keynotes is one of more than 20 presentations scheduled for mDesign Live. mDesign Live, co-produced by the International Woodworking Fair and Surface & Panel magazine, runs Oct. 28-29, 2019, in DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Patterned after materials events in Europe, mDesign Live brings together fabricators and architectural and commercial interior design specialists. Manufacturers and distributors of design software, panels, components and hardware will mix with designers, architects and fabricators throughout the event.
